In a typical flat-plate collector FPC-based solar water heater in this type the solar radiation is absorbed by flat plate collectors which consist of an insulated outer metallic box covered on the top with a glass sheet. A glass cover (called glazing) on top and a dark-colored absorber plate on the bottom. The sides and bottom of the collector are usually insulated to minimize heat loss.
